Zaterdag 5 juli schoot Bijlmer Breakz hun afsluitende video in en rond Ganzenhoef. Hier een paar van de foto’s die ik die dag heb gemaakt. Deze foto’s en die van Jan-Willem Driesens worden door Jurgen gemixed tot een speciale slideshow.
Support Ethiopia
Project-e is a welfare organization primarily focusing on education of young people in Ethiopia. I was contacted by the project for permission to use the accompanying photo of an Ethiopian girl. Of course I agreed: we must(!) support people in countries like Ethiopia!
Inaugural address Harro Bouwmeester
On June 12, 2008 Harro Bouwmeester held his inaugural address in the Aula of Wageningen University at the occasion of his appointment to Chair of Plant Physiology. To commemorate this milestone I composed the book “The Essence of Plants”, containing the text of the address and a photographic impression of the day. Expositie: Ghetto Potential
From March 18, 2008 until April 25, 2008 you can visit the exposition with photographic work from Ghetto Potential (GP) at the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB) in Amstelveen. GP is a foundation that supports young talents from the ghettos in Nairobi in their artistic development.
The exposition will be opened by journalist and photographer Aloys Ginjaar at Thursday March 27, 2008, 16:30 hours. You can read Aloys’ (dutch) opening text on the site of De fotografenavond. Also read the (dutch) brochure about the exposition.
High quality prints by Het Lab Peter Paul Huf in luxurious matte silver aluminum frames with off-white mounting boards. Print size 100×66 cm, frame size 120×86 cm. Ghetto Potential
Sinds 2006 zet een aantal mensen, georganiseerd in stichting Ghetto Potential, zich in voor de bevordering van de kunstzinnige ontwikkeling van de kinderen in de getto’s van Nairobi, Kenia. Deze mensen stellen zich ten doel de kinderen te begeleiden, een podium te bieden en te ondersteunen bij de stap naar een zelfstandig bestaan.
De geëxposeerde foto’s geven een indruk van de omstandigheden, het aanwezige talent en vooral ook het ongebreidelde enthousiasme en vertrouwen waarmee de kinderen hun toekomst tegemoet treden. De foto’s bieden daarmee een aangename afwisseling op de stroom van ontmoedigende beelden uit deze contreien die we doorgaans in de media aantreffen.
De Koffietafel
In verzorgingstehuis de Venser wordt al sinds jaar en dag de zogenaamde Koffietafel georganiseerd; een knus en besloten samen-zijn met koffie als verbindende factor. Gedurende een kleine twee jaar was Peter aanwezig en vereeuwigde ‘de oudjes’.
Al het werk is gebundeld in een album voor het tehuis, haar bewoners en het nageslacht. Ook heeft de Venser een tiental werken overgenomen en in het centrum opgehangen.
Expositie: De koffietafel
During April and May 2007 you can visit the exposition De koffietafel in care center De Venser in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Old fashioned furniture, typically dutch coffee cups and table clothes like I remember them from my own grandmother make a nice setting for the traditional dutch coffee with a chat. The exposition offers an overview of the photos I made during my frequent visits to De koffietafel since 2006.
The photos will be permanently on display, distributed throughout the center, after the exposition. You’re always welcome in the center to come have a look.

Bijlmer Breakz
Bijlmer Breakz werd in 2005 opgericht om de omstreden, maar geliefde woonwijk in beeld te brengen. Vanaf 2006 volgde Peter Bouwmeester de talenten van deze stichting gedurende langere tijd en bij diverse gelegenheden; tijdens een jam sessie, in de studio voor opnamen, op TV bij TMF, etc.
De foto’s werden onder andere gebruikt voor de CD cover, slideshows voor de tracks en een expositie.
Exposition: Music in the air
From 5 to 29 October 2006 you can visit the exposition Music in the air in the ABC Treehouse gallery, organized by the Fotografenavond. I take part with work from the Bijlmer Breakz project with four compilations of various aspects of the artistic work of this foundation: jam session, in da hood, Tk-jive at the Uitmarkt and Zanillya in the studio.
