On June 12, 2008 Harro Bouwmeester held his inaugural address in the Aula of Wageningen University at the occasion of his appointment to Chair of Plant Physiology. To commemorate this milestone I composed the book “The Essence of Plants”, containing the text of the address and a photographic impression of the day.
